Wireless@SG is a wireless broadband programme developed by the Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) of Singapore as part of its Next Generation National Infocomm Infrastructure initiative, being part of the nation's 10-year masterplan called Intelligent Nation 2015 (iN2015).
The targeted users of this wireless broadband network are broadly classified as 'people on the move' – people who require wireless broadband access while away from their homes, schools and offices. These include students, tourists, business travellers and enterprise users such as insurance agents and real estate agents who use widely available and wireless-enabled devices such as notebook PCs and PDAs. Once connected, users will be able to access all Internet-based services e.g. online gaming, web surfing, instant messaging, VoIP and email.
History[edit]
The IDA issued a Call-for-Collaboration (CFC) early 2006 for interested operators to provide such coverage. Late 2006, IDA has accepted the proposals from iCELL Network, QMAX Communications and SingTel, to kick-start the nation's progressive deployment of a widely available wireless network by September 2007.
Following the announcement on 10 October 2006 by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, that Singapore will get to enjoy two years of free wireless broadband connections from January next year. IDA announced on 30 November 2006 that the three Wireless@SG operators have extended this free offering to three years. Users started to enjoy wireless connectivity from 1 December 2006, one month ahead of schedule at selected hotspots.
On 31 May 2007, Network deployment for all Primary Catchment Areas in all Regions was completed with the Secondary Catchment Areas in all Regions was completed on 30 September 2007.
The CFC on Wireless Broadband Market Development was scheduled to be completed on 31 December 2008. It has two main objectives of:

This is the new Wireless@SG application that features an improved user interface and new functionalities. Through this app, you can: - Setup your device for automatic connection to Wireless@SGx - Discover where are the Wireless@SG hotspots via an interactive map - Run speed tests and diagnostics to help us understand your network experience - Receive latest info about what's new with Wireless@SG For the optimal experience while using this application, you are encouraged to uninstall the old Wireless@SG application and all Wireless@SGx Wi-Fi profiles. You may incur data charges if using this application on a paid or metered connection such as mobile data. What’s New
- Updates to app name and icon
- Updates to hyperlinks - Updates to list of Wireless@SG providers crash on lauching - Mac
I cnt connect the wireless@sgx for past 2 month, and i cnt even update the wireless Sg app anymore.
It will just crash after opening it How to fix this up??? Works but
The date of birth field is a user experience problem. You need to set the year first, then the month and day. Once that is done, there is a hard to see 'Done' button just below the calendar that you will take several hours to notice. Once that is done, you can proceed to install your profile.
The problem is - after installing the profile, the auto-login will still keep asking for your account name and password, which should not be the case. I managed to do it once, but after 6 months they will log you out and then this whole process on installing the profile problems will begin again. Good luck everyone! Does the job. Very reliable
I think the poor reviews are unfair.
Once setup, you will forget about this app and everything just works: 5 stars. During the setup, it is actually required to be connected to the internet: the lack of connectivity will make the app behave strangely and you wont be able to register your machine. The setup form could be even better but it is decent I think. ![]() Information
